Cyborgs and feelings - will removing parts remove humanity?

Way back in the past when I was in high school and for a short time after wards, I used to play an RPG called Cyberpunk. One of the tenets of this game was that you can replace all the body parts you want with whizzbang neato cyborg doohickeys. But every time you shave off a bit of yourself, you also lose a bit of your humanity. Will this be true?
